Taller/Shorter

Use Post-it Notes® to help young students learn about scale.

Draw a stick figure about as tall as your students on an Post-it® Easel Pad. Place it at the base of a blank wall.
Have your students draw something that is shorter than they are on a Post-it® Super Sticky Note. Have them place their note on or around the stick figure.
Next, have your students draw something that is taller than they are on a Post-it® Note. Have them put this above the stick figure’s head.
Discuss what the students created and where they placed the Post-it® Notes. This will help to reinforce the concept of scale using something very familiar to them: their own height.
