Gather a number of the same type of item like coins, marbles, pebbles or peas and place them in a clear jar.
Ask your students to estimate how many pieces are contained inside the jar. Have them write their guess on a Post-it® Note.
Ask your students post their guesses in order on a whiteboard or wall.
After all guesses have been posted, ask your students to determine the maximum and minimum guess, the range of guesses and mode.
Finally, give the correct answer. Your students can see which guess was the closest.
